At one point in the not-so-distant past, pundits were talking about the death of magazines. However, in regards to recent data, it seems that death is not imminent.
According to an article from Marketplace, “More than 800 new magazines launched over the past 12 months says Samir Husni, AKA, “Mr. Magazine,” director of the Magazine Innovation Center at the University of Mississippi.”
Of course, magazines have changed and will continue to do so. Some magazines that release are annuals or “book-a-zines”, and there is a much more significant portion of time, effort, and financing going into digital magazines. The magazines that thrive have a devout audience and are able to create a strong multiplatform publishing system, incorporating digital if the magazine is already versed in print.
