Job Objectives: (Purpose of Position)
To lead and develop all publishing activity at Unity including print, multi-media and on line products and services. To develop a product and marketing strategy for all products in partnership with marketing and other appropriate Unity departments. To serve our many constituents and spiritual seekers with the best available spiritual resources to transform individuals, organizations, communities and our world. To foster relationships and collaborations with writers, our Association of Unity Churches International, Unity, New Thought and other like-minded partners to develop cutting edge products and services that will serve our Unity constituents and other spiritual seekers. To develop a marketing and financial model that will grow our constituent base and produce financial health. To make Unity’s publishing entity well known in progressive Christianity and spirituality movement.

Job Prerequisites: (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential functions)
- Ten years experience in publishing spiritual related products and services; must have print and on-line development experience
- Proven track record in nurturing existing products and planning and developing new products and services; proven record in growing constituents and having financial success
- MBA required; other applicable graduate degree
- Knowledge and experience in participatory, team led processes
- Unity affiliation preferred

- Activator – must be able to move ideas from conceptual to real products and services in a timely and profitable manner with the highest commitment to publishing excellence
- Focus – must be able to keep many important priorities and strategies in balance while creating an environment for maximum effectiveness
- Analytical – must have skills at reviewing a wide range of information and discerning best next steps for the organization to move forward; must learn best practices of similar organizations, products and services and bring them for review to our Executive Team
Responsibilities: (Functions essential to achieving job objectives)
- Recreate an environment in Unity, New Thought and spiritual circles to develop cutting edge products and services to serve Unity’s mission and vision; create a writing house and workshop to foster research and writing for the Unity movement; reinvigorate our publishing business
- Directly oversee Daily Word, Unity Magazine, all Unity publishing titles, multi-media products, and our on-line products and services.
- Have a liaison (dotted line) relationship with marketing who have responsibility for marketing and creative to complete publishing projects and with other departments that create and sustain our publishing products and services
- Develop long-term and short-term plans and activities to ensure a successful publishing products and services
- Be Unity’s key contact in developing relationships with our Association, Unity, New Thought and other like-minded partners, writers and leaders who can foster our publishing ministry
- Serve on Executive Team of Unity; provide appropriate leadership to sustaining and new product development strategies for consideration and approval
- Be a vibrant learner of trends and new technologies and a developer of products and services in the spirituality arena
- Monitor and evaluate all publishing products and services for quality, circulation, and financial health and make appropriate adjustments
