We love it when digital properties become successful enough to launch print magazines. It shows the power of digital, and the benefit of utilizing multiplatform strategies.
According to a new article from Folio, I-5 publishing is another example of a digital publisher turning to the print world. The publisher will be launching bimonthly magazines of Dogster and Catster starting in February 2015.
In addition to launching these magazines, I-5 is focusing on their special-interest audiences by going all-in with Catster and Dogster. The publisher also currently owns Cat Fancy and Dog Fancy, which will both be shuttered on the eve of their 50th and 45th anniversaries, according to the article from Folio. These audiences will be transitioned to the new Dogster and Catster publications.
According to the article, “the launch year circulation goal for Dogster and Catster is 200,000. Annual subscriptions are $19.95.”
