Estimates predict more than $2.5 billion by 2014
When a medium becomes popular, advertising dollars typically turn that way. Since smartphones are increasingly popular, we have seen ad spending go in that direction.
But how lucrative is that industry exactly? How much money is really going to the mobile advertising world?
According to estimates by eMarketer, by the end of this year US mobile ad spending will be up 79% to reach $743 million. The end of 2011 predicts it to reach $1.1 billion and by 2014 it’s expected to hit $2.5 billion.
Smartphone use has spurred this massive amount of spending and the demographic profile of smartphone owners has been taken into account, says Noah Elkin, eMarketer senior analyst.
