How to Get an Inbound Link from Google

Grab an authoritative Google link while the opportunity still lasts!

Google Profiles exist to represent you as a Google user on all of their many different products. Recently Google removed the indexing block from their robots.txt file that they had on Google Profiles. This means that Profiles are now being indexed by all search engines (including Google) and that links within the Profiles are (so far) passing PageRank.

By doing a site: search you can see the Profiles which have currently been indexed. And you can see examples of pages which have accrued PageRank here and here.

It’s impossible to say if or when Google might decide to nofollow these links but, for now, you can get an “authoritative link” to your site directly from Google themselves!

Remember though, for a Profile to accrue PageRank, it must be linked from other pages. So, be sure to add a link to your profile page from places where it might make sense to do so. Examples would include social media or forum profiles—pages you control on sites like Squidoo, Google Knol, and your About page on any one of your own sites.

Log in at http://www.google.com/s2/profiles/me to create or edit your Google Profile. From there you fill in the blanks and especially the Links section where you can Add custom links to your Profile. Take note that you can also use whatever anchor text you choose for your link. Bear in mind this link-opportunity probably won’t last. So, we suggest you grab that authoritative Google link today, while you can!
