4 Tools for Discovering Your Backlinks from SES New York

Jim Boykin, CEO and Founder of We Build Pages shares Internet marketing and audience development tools

Backlinks help to build credibility for your website.

As it’s been said many times before, content is king. If your content is truly king within your market, then your articles will likely receive backlinks from a number of different sources.

These backlinks not only help to build credibility and reputation for your brand, but they also point out possible partnerships and offer insight on more growth for your business.

For instance, if you find a website is sending you backlinks and you weren’t aware of it; you could then seek backlinks from their competitors. Each scenario would mean more traffic for you and better credibility with additional backlinks.

In order to find the most relevant backlinks, Jim Boykin, the CEO, Founder and Lead Link “Ninja” for WeBuildPages.com offered these five tools at the SES Conference in New York City.

  • Yahoo Link domain – Currently, you can use either http://nl.yahoo.com/ or http://in.yahoo.com to check your backlinks. While at either of these sites, enter the following into the search box: Linkdomain:YouWebsite.com –site:YourWebsite.com. A list will then come up of the websites that are sending you backlinks.
  • OpenSiteExplorer.org – At this site you can enter in your website and receive information on linking root domains and total links your site is experiencing. It is also helpful in finding the phrases people are using to backlink to your site.
  • Majestic SEO Site Explorer – This tool will tell you how many backlinks your website has, who gave the backlinks and the type of website giving the backlinks (ie: .gov or .org sites). You can also discover your website’s link history as well.
  • Blekko – At this search engine, all you have to do is enter your web address into the search box, add a space and enter /seo. For me, I’ve used this: https://www.mequoda.com/ /seo. This will return a smaller index than other backlink tools, but they will be of the most trusted pages on the web that are linking to your content. Be sure to use Blekko to look at your competitors’ backlinks to see where their most trusted ones come from. After discovering this information, try to get backlinks from the same sites.

One final piece of advice Boykin expressed during his 28 Internet Marketing Tools session was: Don’t use Google to check backlinks. The results will not be as accurate as these tools listed above.

Hopefully these tools will help you discover your backlinks more accurately.
